Why do certain foods create excess weight, low energy, digestive problems, allergies, low blood sugar, poor concentration, mood swings, hormonal imbalances, high blood pressure, and other chronic ailments in some people and produce the exact opposite effect in others?

It will be great when we have widespread DNA testing to explain exactly how we are genetically structured to turn the elements of food into well-functioning body cells. (If any citizen or visitor to the digital universe knows a doctor or a researcher who can give us a bright preview of what's to come with dietary DNA testing, tell him or her to get in touch.)

Until DNA testing is available there is a great book on metabolic typing. Even the subtitle is fascinating Customize Your Diet to Your Own Unique Body Chemistry, especially since I am getting an "A" in Chemistry:

The Metabolic Typing Diet

This book is a fascinating book because it speaks of the old ways and how they are good before it goes into the new ways of science. I just love the first chapter: "The Wisdom of Ancestral Diets." It starts off: "Would you believe that in certain remote regions of the world there are old and indigenous cultures where modern epidemics--obesity, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, colitis, hypertension, arthritis and the like are virtually unknown?"

It documents why people whose ancestors come from different parts of the world have different food needs. Further, the story seems to be that each individual is genetically coded to need different kinds of food to maintain optimum health, beyond those differences created by genetic heritage. After the fascinating first chapter the book sets about helping readers apply a dietary technology to customize a diet to their own highly individualized needs.

My dream is to get a Masters Degree in herbal public health, go to Africa, and spread some of the scientific ways while holding on to the old ways, and then I would bring some of the old ways here to my new country--America.
